20 Scenes That Ruin Nearly Perfect Movies

By:

Very few movies are Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion, so by definition very few movies are perfect. A lot of them come close, but one tiny thing that’s just a little off keeps them from being a 10 out of 10. Maybe one character is bizarrely miscast, or the director is very into lens flares, or the screenwriter keeps making the characters say “bloof,” like it’s a real slang term that we’d recognize.

There’s always something.

But sometimes, it’s just one scene that throws everything off. You’ve got no notes up to that point, but then it suddenly becomes a wildly different (and worse) movie before brushing itself off and getting back to competent business like nothing happened. It’s a frequent enough occurrence that thousands responded when user jasontredecim asked r/AskReddit, “What’s the one scene that stops a 9/10 film from being a 10/10 film for you?”
