19 Great Movies With Terrible Casting

Sometimes, producers have to compromise when it comes to casting their films. Maybe they need a big name attached to their risky little indie, or their first choice wasn’t available, or they owe a blood debt to someone’s famous parents. Whatever the case, an actor is just not right for the part, but the movie’s gotta get made. If the movie’s good enough, audiences will mostly overlook the violent miscasting. Mostly.

Specifically, Redditor dood0906 was “thinking about the Harry Potter movies,” and the actor who played Dumbledore in the first two movies, Richard Harris, who passed away before filming began on the third. He was replaced by Michael Gambon, who The Dood felt was too “stern, direct (and) confrontational, everything Dumbledore was not,” a sentiment in which they are the least alone it’s possible to be among Harry Potter fans.

As part of all of this, they asked r/Movies, “What are some great movies that had some terribly miscast characters?” and points were made.
