Texas Governor Greg Abbot has so much egg on his face you'd think he was bukkaked by an entire hen house, because after reopening his state in May and making a big show of saying that closing down again is a "last option," well, you probably see where this is going. Said Abbott after signing an executive order that would close everything down again:
"It is clear that the rise in cases is largely driven by certain types of activities, including Texans congregating in bars. The actions in this executive order are essential to our mission to swiftly contain this virus and protect public health."
But ... but that's what everyone was saying months ago.
First, we stay open, then we close, then we open, then we close. Who's on first? I don't know but they should be inside, or they're going to further spread a deadly disease to the entire population. Hey, maybe if everyone, businesses, government officials and citizens alike, just wore a mask and followed CDC guidelines for the three months in which this started, we'd all be fine by now. I don't want to discount the very real mental burden social distancing places on people. We're all struggling with it. Maybe not struggling with it as much as these people:
But it's a struggle all the same. But lockdown doesn't mean being miserable. The Black Lives Matter protests reported very few cases of COVID-19 spread. Why? It's not because coronavirus has its own political agenda. It's because, by and large, protesters wore masks and passed out hand sanitizer, and did their best to respect social distancing guidelines. If everyone had that mindset, then I'm sure lockdown could be more lenient over phases, provided temperature checks and frequent testing, etc. Again, I realize how big an if that is because of the above video. If you're talking about 5G towers, then it's probably little use trying to convince you to place a swab anywhere other than your asshole. But Greg Abbott is a Governer with goddamn advisors and a wealth of resources. How the hell did he not see this coming?
