If you grew up on 80s movies, you probably spent a lot of childhood think martial arts was just what happened in movies. Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan are such great legends that they got Pokemon named after them. Karate Kid perfected the training montage (well, that and Rocky) and gave us false hopes about how quickly practice would go. And of course, to be fluent in the art of nunchucks was the height of cool, so all you New Yorkers out there go pick up some nunchucks. We of course were blown away by 2022's Everything Everywhere All At Once, which had us shouting out how great Hong Kong cinema has been at martial arts-based action comedy. Of course, martial arts aren't just or movies, but instead of debunking myths about martial arts, we found some real myths about martial arts that happen to be true. Enjoy.
