In retrospect, whenever I go bowling, I am so much of a Black Hole, it hurts.
ReplyNo offense to any bowling fans, but i found this one to be really really funny,
ReplyHow about "It's fun"? It's a sport (or if you don't want to call it a sport, activity) that's easy to pick up, doesn't require a high degree of athletic ability to participate in at a basic level, allows for social interaction during the competition, and occurs indoors, making it weather independent.
ReplyI suppose it depends on the reasons one engages in a particular sport. If you're looking for cardiovascular exercise or see sports as a means of finding fulfillment through aggressive competition, it may not be the best means to achieving those goals, but if you're looking for a pleasant way to relax with people whose company you enjoy while engaging in friendly competition, it's a pretty decent choice.
There are sports that are about bettering oneself - running, resistance training, swimming - sports that are about proving oneself through competition with others - most team sports such as basketball and football - and sports that provide an excuse for socializing. Bowling is in the latter category. This doesn't make it bad, just a sport with a different end goal.

I'm a black hole. I'm sorry.
Replyugh... humans...
ReplyI'm the REALLY small red part.
ReplyI love how "The Dictator" is automatically a she.
ReplyWhoever categorized this article is definitely "the Athlete". I mean really, who put this in the sports section of this site?
Reply Hide All See All 4 RepliesAnd since every other comment about this has gotten 30+ thumbs up, I'll post it too so mine will get idiots to thumb it up. Why? Definitely not because I'm narcissistic enough to give a s**t about a few thumbs up on the internet. 110%??? OMG, you suck. Learn math. This is the worst comedy article ever written just because of this one tiny little minor mistake. NO WAIT! The they're/their tiny mistake is what ruins it! And I'm not just mentioning these because it makes me feel totally superior to you just because I was able to pick out a couple minor mistakes that millions of other people make all day every day. Nope, that's not the reason at all. And it's also not because I'm a pathetic no life loser who has nothing better to do with my time than to find minor mistakes on a comedy website and whine about them all day.
Shut up faggot.
Pedants may be annoying, but you, sir, are much, much worse.
Who said anyone was looking for mistakes? Had you considered that people annoyed by the mistakes came her for entertainment, read the article for enjoyment, and happened to notice the mistakes, which then detracted from their planned enjoyment?
The fact that millions of people make these mistakes all the is not a reason to ignore it, it's a reason to get angry about it. If you ignore it, it gets worse.
yeah grammatical errors are what's wrong with the world. WOW! suspicious fish i hope you don't ignore any of the other evils in the world, otherwise you have your priorities really fucked up
110% not bowling?
ReplyYou are not alone.
As someone who grew up in a bowling alley, I've seen all of these, except the Athlete is usually reserved for league play only.
ReplyThey also forgot the "Girl who throws the ball and walks away immediately so she can take 50 pictures for Facebook in an hour about their SUPER FUN BOWLING TRIP where instead of bowling, they take pictures."
classic. I too grew up in a bowling alley...teach the sport and have thrown a 300. Love your 'girl' comment.
The math is wrong at the beginning (I'm sure that's been pointed out), but this chart actually made me laugh...and want to go bowling.
ReplyIf you are going to go bowling, you might as well try to be good at it even if it is just an excuse to hang out and drink inexpensive beer. The same goes for darts and golf. You don't have to be the "athlete" to know that scoring an 8 sucks just as much as a 6, you just have to know how the scoring works. Any open frame is basically a failure.
ReplyTheir, not they're. I don't usually care online, but you put the whole thing together, and it's just glaring at me.
Reply Hide All See All 3 RepliesThank you. When one gets paid for writing online, they should at least be able to effectively edit their material before submitting it.
Considering "up" is usually referred to as a state of being I highly doubt people claim that they are owning "up" instead of being it. That is pretty anal of you for something so controversial.
I'm up, He's Up, They are up... Hence They're up.
all the preemptive strike guys I've known hardly missed, actually. On the rare occasion they did, they turned into "the athlete."
ReplyWhenever we were taken to the bowling alley for a "field trip," we had this one teacher who was the Preemptive Strike, the Dictator, the Houdini and sometimes the Athlete all into one.
ReplyHe would always call us out if we didn't get over 4 pins, tease whoever had bumpers, and insisted that anyone who threw with a curve was a hack.
I must confess to not only being the "Preemptive Strike" (I flex with one arm and point at my head with the other - and yes, it's every bit as idiotic as described), but I am also "The Scientist", the guy who puts one right in the pocket and when only eight or nine pins drop calls the cops to report that physics is being raped.
Reply Hide All See All 3 RepliesYou sound like a lame bowling partner.
f**k is wrong with you? David Gee sounds like an amazing bowling partner. I would love to see the head-point thing.
Thank you Six-Shooter, I am an amazing bowling partner as I have many identities, such as "The Forsaken". You know, when you put one in the pocket, less than ten pins drop, and you scream, "NOOOOO!!! WHY ME, GOD/ALLAH/JEHOVAH?!?"
Reasons to go bowling:
Reply1. Cheapest bar in town.
2. Entertainment.
The Image for 'The Pre-emptive Strike' is hilarious.
