What about Ninja vs Aliens?
ReplyI actually liked this. The movies probably will still be good anyways, but the chart was funny.
ReplyOh screw you, Cloverfeild rocked
ReplyScrew Cloverfield, seriously. JJ Abrams is a hack. Gimme The Host any day. It's funny, fun, tense, action-packed and above all you get to see the monster fully within the first five minutes, as opposed to JJ Abrams' "let's hide the s**t out of everything and cover our faults with lense flares" film-making philosophy.
Wow, a lot of negative comments on this...
ReplyDid anyone realize how clever it is? It makes the comment on how many alien-centered movies are out there, while building up to the punchline "Aliens + Cowboys = Cowboys and Aliens," and it's done well.
Congratulations to metallicfire. I want to see the negative commenters make something better.
Yes, but the punchline was obvious. I was expecting it the whole time, so when I finally saw it, it didn't phase me.
And now Aliens + Milton Bradley board game = Battleship.
Reply*sigh*
I will see that movie to see how they work the phrase "You sunk my battleship" into the plot.
Skyline came out in 2010. hate to nitpick, but yeah.
ReplyAliens + Jaws + Stand By Me = Super 8
ReplyThis...this is depressing....
Replydistrict 9 being the only good original alien movie, hence why it isnt on the chart
Reply Hide All See All 3 RepliesMaybe because it's not a 2011 film. You DID read the title, didn't you?
V wasn't in 2011 ;o)
...and The Host. Very original film...
Whats mocrap?
ReplyMocap (motion capture) is a method by which life action performance is captured and used to animate a CG character. Basically they put a bunch of dots all over an actor, the actor does stuff. and then a computer makes an animated character do the same thing.
Sometimes it works, but usually only when Mocap is also combined with hand (well, mouse) animation by an animator. Eg; Gollum from Lord of the Rings.
Other times, the result is jerky or creepy, due to a lack of animation, (Xcalibur) too much animation (Monster house) or the computer being unable to determine the exact position of the dots so the character just kind of jerks back and forth unnaturally (Polar Express). When Mocap sucks, (Crappy motion capture) it's called Mocrap.
didn't most of this s**t come out in 2010?
ReplyActually, I thought Aliens+ Insane Conspiracies = The Event.
ReplyI must commend the author for calling out the Bourne movies for having shaky cameras. Seriously, none of the sheeple I know who idolize that trilogy even seem to realize that.
Reply Hide All See All 4 Repliespeople still say sheeple?
only the sheeple still say it.
And only the sheeple all high five each other by pointing out that someone said sheeple..
bourne's shaky camera was well done, and performed it's intended function, to add realism and suspense. cloverfield was a f*****g abortion in every way, it's shaky camera was an obvious, poorly done attempt at realism whose actual intended function was to hide all the s****y cg
f**k the aliens; I want to see cowboys shoot zombies.
ReplyWhat the f**k was this. Take this off immediately, and cancel the check to the author.
ReplyI like most things on cracked, but that was seriously boring. No more of that, please.
Reply"V" isn't a movie and "Skyline" came out 2010..
Reply Hide All See All 4 Repliesalso Roswell is not a movie
"Roswell' was 1994 made-for-TV movie starring Kyle McLaughlan. It wasn't bad, but what stood out for me was the beautiful b&w super 8 cinematography, which looked stunning.

The Roswell they mentioned, and the image they had, was the WB series more or less created to be Dawson's Creek with Aliens. Nice reach though.
All these movies look awesome
