We have VFX from 2001: A Space Odyssey to thank for Alien and Star Wars, so we kinda have Stanley Kubrick to thank for Cracked.com (even though this website began in 1958, the timeline is confusing). Sure, that's kind of a stretch, but so is Kubrick funding films by hustling chess games. We don't really go to Kubrick for conventional, though, do we? Kubrick was so obsessive, he would do mountains of research for films that never got made—then make sure he never left England. And isn't it just the perfect oddball Kubrick story to cast Rodney Dangerfield—before he was famous. One of a kind, that Stanley guy.
