It's not often a cult hit book has two iconic-for-different-reasons movies, but Dune earns its rarified air. Frank Herbert's book came from humble origins: Dune's publisher mostly printed repair manuals. From there, Dune inspired a movie insane even by David Lynch standards, George Lucas basically ripped off Dune for Star Wars, and a bunch of video games we want to succeed were made about Dune. Oh, and another movie happened. This time it was a good movie, but come on—a Dune movie with no MENA representation? Weak. Get off the spice and get your act together, Hollywood.
