Shannon Sharpe’s Podcast Has Become Comedy Beef Central

One month after Katt Williams lit up the comedy world with accusations and instigations against his contemporaries from the comfort of the fine leather couch on Club Shay ShayMo’Nique appeared on the podcast to reiterate that Shannon Sharpe’s club is a Tyler Durden-type deal.

The Academy Award-winner and sitcom star has never been one to say nothing at all when she doesn’t have anything nice to say – Mo’Nique openly sparred with Netflix when negotiations between her and the platform over a stand-up special deal deteriorated amongst her allegations of pay discrimination. Mo’Nique has been beefing with Oprah Winfrey for over a decade after Winfrey aired the dirty laundry of the comic’s family on TV. She’s claimed to have been “blackballed” by powerful members of the entertainment industry. She famously refused to campaign for Precious leading up to the Oscars and won one anyway. For the last 25 years, Mo’Nique has handled her career with a proud lack of discretion that led to her unleashing a tirade on yesterday’s episode of Club Shay Shay, which included pointed attacks on Tiffany HaddishKevin Hart and, of course, Oprah, her ultimate nemesis.

Sharpe, a Pro Football Hall of Famer and beloved sports commentator, has been racking up view counts in the tens of millions on his talk show’s YouTube channel because his guests’ many inflammatory remarks have sparked drama and discussion across the comedy world, proving that Skip Bayless was only the second best shit-starter on Undisputed.

“Let me tell you something, I’m a person for right,” Mo’Nique told her pot-stirring host, explaining that she feels it's her responsibility to speak out in the harshest terms whenever someone is wronged – especially herself.

For instance, Haddish once made an off-the-cuff comment about Mo’Nique’s public dispute with Netflix as well as Mo'Nique's decision to let her husband, Sidney Hicks, work as her manager. "My business run different than her business. I don't live her life. I don't have that husband of hers," Haddish said to GQ in 2018.

“Tiffany, if you had a husband like mine, you may not have two DUIs,” Mo’Nique shot back on Club Shay Shay, “If you had a husband like mine, you may not be caught up in what looks like you could have been grooming a child." The comic referenced the much-publicized lawsuit against Haddish that alleged sexual abuse of a minor, stemming from a bizarre sketch Haddish filmed with Aries Spears. The case against Haddish was dismissed. “And I say all of that with no judgment,” Mo’Nique added.

Sharpe egged Mo'Nique on, saying of Haddish, “She don’t even have a husband, let alone like yours.”

“That required a sip,” Mo’Nique replied after taking a swig from of Sharpe’s Le Portier Shay cognac.

Mo’Nique also accused Kevin Hart of backing out of a promise he had made to her that they would work on a joint project. Mo'Nique revealed that, after Hart verbally agreed to executive produce her next endeavor, Mo’Nique's representatives got a call from Hart’s managers saying, “Kevin doesn’t want anything to do with Mo’Nique.” Mo’Nique says that, when she confronted Hart about the backtrack, he called it a “miscommunication,” but didn’t follow up with his managers to correct the issue. “I’ve never talked to Kevin Hart again,” she explained.

Time will tell if Haddish and Hart will react to Mo’Nique’s Club Shay Shay comments the same way Katt Williams’ targets clapped back immediately following his own shit-talk on the show, but one thing is for certain – the publicists of Sharpe’s next comic guest better start doing damage control today.
