Documentaries: when writing a story is too hard, just film people! Nah, we kid, documentaries, we're huge fans. Without documentaries, we wouldn't know how truly wrong Chris Rock was for joking about Jada Pinkett Smith's Alopecia. Without documentaries, would most people know about Britney Spears's conservatorship? Or what about Corey Feldman's alleged abusers? The power to reveal truths, to tell stories mainstream media misses—that's an extraordinary thing. Of course, some documentaries are dumb, but a few french fries lost in the bag does not a supersize negate, you know? That's a saying, right?
We even love documentaries as a narrative. device for TV shows. The Office, some episodes of Community, and of course Parks and Rec made great use of the documentary technique.
