As Netflix’s DVD catalog goes the way of Blockbuster, that segment of the streamer’s business is going out with a doorbuster bang. The company sent out an email offering customers the opportunity to receive up to 10 extra discs handpicked from their queue. While the offer is subject to supply, those who are lucky enough to have their physical media fancy indulged will receive the DVDs around the end of September. The catch: Despite the DVD-by-mail service being shuttered, the contents of those iconic red envelopes are still subject to return by the end of October. In other words, don’t get too attached. 

Meanwhile, another Hilary is ready to take the world by storm. With forecasters upgrading Tropical Storm Hilary to a hurricane, high winds and heavy rainfall are set to hit Southern California this weekend in ways the state hasn’t seen for 84 years. It’s a huge opportunity for Angelenos who love to say, “We really needed this” after any kind of serious rainfall.
