This TikToker Makes A Compelling Argument That Peggy Hill Isn’t As Awful As Fans Make Her Out to Be
In a viral TikTok, King of the Hill influencer Key has offered a compelling rebuttal to the popular fan narrative that paints Peggy Hill as the scum of Arlen, Texas, arguing that while the Spanish instructor has her flaws, she’s far from the worst person on Rainey Street.
“Really? Peggy?” Key asked in the video, which was recently reposted to the show’s subreddit.
Comparing the Boggle champ to Bill Dauterive, who repeatedly hits on his best friend’s wife, and Nancy Gribble, who “has been cheating on Dale for how many years?” Peggy’s morality stands on its own two size-16 feet.

Alongside her willingness to care for her baby brother-in-law days after surviving a devastating skydiving accident, Peggy’s warm treatment of her niece, Luanne Platter, also resonated with Key. “She said, ‘Oh no, that’s our family,’” Key remembered of Peggy’s insistence that Hank include Luanne on the Hill’s Thanksgiving trip in Season Four’s “Happy Hank’s Giving.”
“I love Peggy,” agreed a fan in the Reddit thread about Key’s TikTok. “Yeah, she did some bad things, but it was unintentional.”
“Yes, Peggy is a bit annoying at times, but she always gets the job done one way or another,” added a second.
As a third fan noted, the harsh critiques of Peggy may be symptomatic of sexism among animation fans as a whole. “It seems like the bad actions of characters like Peggy and Lisa Simpson get blown way out of proportion compared to all the stuff the male characters do,” they wrote.
Honestly, it’s nice to see people finally giving Peggy the recognition she has always given herself.
