Butters’ New Girlfriend Has Been on ‘South Park’ Since the Very First Episode
When the synopsis for this week’s South Park episode, “Wok Is Dead,” dropped online, fans learned that the show would be all about how “Butters experiences the reality of tariffs when he has to buy a Labubu doll for his girlfriend’s birthday.”
Which begged the question: Who exactly is Butters’ girlfriend?

Could it be Charlotte, the Canadian refugee who fled the Great White North after their Trumpian Prime Minister ruined the country? Or maybe Lexus, the server who leaves Butters brokenhearted?
Well, now that the episode has aired, we can say that the mystery girlfriend was, in fact, Red. Of course, it seems as though she may have just been using Butters in order to get him to buy her a super-rare Labubu doll, thus allowing her and her friends to open up a portal capable of summoning the Devil himself.
Red McArthur may not be the most prominent of South Park characters, but she has popped up in a number of scenes over the years, usually palling around with Bebe and/or Wendy.
Although she didn’t have any lines, Red actually appeared in the very first episode of the show, “Cartman Gets An Anal Probe.” She can be seen sitting next to Bebe in the front of the school bus, just behind the screaming Ms. Crabtree.
While characters like Ms. Crabtree are obviously no longer a part of South Park (she was brutally murdered back in Season Eight), Red has somehow managed to stick around this entire time. That being said, her name hasn’t always been totally clear. For example, in Season Nine’s “Erection Day,” Jimmy refers to her as “Bertha.”
And she was called “Rebecca” in Season 11’s “The List,” in which she was a key figure in the Watergate-esque conspiracy that led to Clyde being voted cutest boy by the fourth-grade girls.
The show later referenced this inconsistency by having yell Cartman yell “fuck you whatever your name is” at Red.
But now that Red has obtained the cursed Labubu from Butters — and met Satan and his significant other, Donald Trump — it seems pretty doubtful that their relationship will continue any further.
