Skydance Overlord David Ellison Starred in the 2009 Sex Comedy ‘Hole in One’
David Ellison got plenty of press when his Skydance Media purchased Paramount Global for $8 billion and change earlier this year. But in all the stories discussing Ellison, one notable achievement always goes missing from his professional biography: His appearance as best pal Tyler in the 2009 sex comedy Hole in One — also known as ParFection: The Golf Movie.
In a sneaky marketing move, its makers also tried to pass it off as an American Pie movie based on star Steve Talley’s other appearances as Stifler’s little brother.
The movie — impossible to find on streaming for obvious reasons — has a plot that’s even dumber-sounding than either of its titles: “A cool undergraduate boy gets tricked by some surgeons and they operate on him, giving him a set of breasts. Now, he has to earn money through golf for the reverse surgery.”

Sad to report that David Ellison isn’t the one who ends up with an impressive new rack. Instead, he’s the lead’s best pal, Tyler, a ne’er-do-well dropout who’s trying to make it in the cutthroat world of golf apparel. He’s also the overprotective brother of Mandy, one of the many girls the lead character is trying to bed. Quite an acting challenge for an aspiring mogul.
Based on the trailer, the most hilarious aspect of the movie might be ICE officer Dean Cain’s appearance as an orthodontically challenged repo man. Next time he blames his politics for his dwindling acting career, remind Cain that he did this one.
Golfinglab.com named Hole in One the 21st best golf movie of all time, beating out Leslie Nielsen’s Bad Golf My Way and National Lampoon’s Golf Punks with Tom Arnold. “This is a pretty raunchy comedy,” warns Golfing Lab, “so stay away, kids.”
Even if you’re a fan of nudity-filled comedies, best stay away. “This movie breaks new ground in terms of ripoff movies,” says one Letterboxd review. “Not only does it feature the lead actor from a few of the later American Pie Presents movies, but the tagline for this movie’s promotion referred to it as “American Pie Plays Golf’ … Also, the movie just really sucks. I mean just really, really sucks.”
Another viewer only stumbled upon Ellison’s comedy because some video thief included it in a Pirate Bay jumbo download of American Pie movies. “Nothing can explain how bad the film is,” they wrote. “After 6 attempts I still haven't finished this.”
“Finally watched this shit,” says another ½ star review.
The only thing crazier than the existence of Hole in One? According to IMDb, there’s a Hole in One 2 allegedly “coming soon,” although Ellison and the rest of the original cast appear to have taken a pass. Wonder why.
Many major streaming services have recently announced price hikes, so it stands to reason Paramount+ will soon jack its rates as well. If Ellison agrees to stream Hole in One on the service, I’d gladly pay the extra few bucks.
