Did Dee from ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ Swim in Sewage So This Influencer Could Backstroke in It?
Given her history of scamming, scheming and both literally and metaphorically burning people, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s Dee Reynolds should be far from anyone’s role model. However, one social media star found herself inadvertently influenced by the resident Bird of Paddy’s Pub, and followed in her massively filthy footsteps.
Earlier this month, South African TikToker Michelle Sky Hayward decided to brave the Southern Hemisphere’s chilly winter weather by treating herself to a dip at a local beach in Cape Town. “I don’t even feel the cold!” she said before accidentally swallowing some of the sea water. “That is salty!”

Some of Hayward’s followers were worried about her apparent stamina for cold plunges. “That water is soo cold… how you still smiling so comfortably?” one asked. But others had more pressing concerns, and flocked to her comments with speculation that the brown, foamy water was actually sewage.
“That bacteria and fungus is dangerous to your skin,” a viewer replied, while another worried that she’d soon face “cold sores.”
Hayward seemed largely unbothered by these words of warning, replying with a simple shrug emoji to a fan who asked if she was swimming in sewage. But a few Always Sunny fans found something strangely familiar in this nonchalance, comparing her to the one and only Sweet Dee after her infamous sewer incident.
In Season Seven’s “Thunder Gun Express,” Dee also took a very questionable swim when her shoe got stuck in an underground grate while traversing Philly’s sewer system with Charlie Kelly. After refusing to take off her sandal, Dee landed on the wrong side of a “wall of water,” ultimately trudging to the movie theater drenched in sewage.
“That’s shit in my hair, that’s why,” she matter-of-factly told a fellow moviegoer who commented on her “unbearable” odor.
Considering Dee and Hayward’s comparable experiences, some Always Sunny viewers felt these two blondes would get along just fine if they ever met. “Dee definitely feels this woman's pain,” wrote one. Another broached The Gang’s “Thunder Gun Express” mantra: “No hesitation. No surrender. No man left behind.”
We can only hope Hayward takes a page from Dee’s book in replying to her newfound band of haters. Or as Dee put it, “You guys all better eat a dick.”
