Jimmy Kimmel Gloats About Beating Donald Trump in Popularity Polls

As Kimmel admitted, his lead should probably be even higher
Jimmy Kimmel Gloats About Beating Donald Trump in Popularity Polls

After months of withstanding personal attacks from President Donald Trump and a direct attempt at ending his career, Jimmy Kimmel can now proudly say to the President, “If I have bad ratings, then where does that leave you?”

Last month, Trump’s FCC chair Brendan Carr went on a right-wing podcast and openly threatened to pull the broadcasting licenses of ABC affiliates unless they “take action” on Trump’s most prominent comedic critic Kimmel. Hours later, Jimmy Kimmel Live! was indefinitely suspended. Then, one week after Carr’s way-too-soon victory lap, Kimmel returned to the airwaves with a record-breaking show about the importance of protecting the First Amendment rights of every American.

Now, Kimmel’s status as a temporary martyr for the freedom of speech has made him more popular than ever while Trump’s approval rating continues its downward trajectory, and Kimmel couldn’t wait to break the news about their comparative popularity.

On last night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Kimmel proudly reported the results of a recent YouGov favorability poll that shows the late-night host leading the President by 16 points. However, as Kimmel admitted, that seemingly sizable lead is still slightly embarrassing for him, considering how Kimmel has broken up zero families and was never so much as an acquaintance to Jeffrey Epstein.

The mere fact that, as Kimmel mentioned during his monologue last night, the White House immediately put out a statement regarding the YouGov poll in which they repeated their “low ratings” attacks on Kimmel and pretended that the President is “delivering” on his “America First mandate” means that Kimmels triumphant return really is getting underneath Trumps skin.

By now, a more stable genius would realize that, the more air he gives his feud with Kimmel, the more Americans will flock to Kimmels side, but Trump cant help but take the bait when his own popularity in question. Youd think that, amidst a government shutdown, which Trump and his followers are frantically attempting to frame as a ploy by the Democratic Party to provide free transgender surgeries to undocumented immigrants, the President have bigger fish to fry than a single YouGov survey. But, clearly, Trump is still seething that the American public rallied around one of his most bitter TV rivals.

At the same time, all this controversy may be a welcome distraction for a President who is still battling inquiries about the Epstein files and who recently hinted that a pardon for convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell could be on the table. Then again, Trumps mercurial temperament could rear its ugly head pending the release of the next favorability polls, should YouGov discover that Trump is even trailing behind Maxwell.
