The Internet Roasts Kim Kardashian For Tone-Deaf 40th Birthday Party Post

Kim Kardashian West @KimKardashian Replying to @KimKardashian After 2 weeks of multiple health screens and asking everyone to quarantine, I surprised

Remember that time Kim Kardashian lost her diamond earring in the ocean? After a massive freakout with an abundance of tears and panicked shrieks, her older sister Kourtney, fed up, delivered one of the most iconic reality-checking lines in the history of Keeping Up With The Kardashians: "Kim there's people that are dying."

Well, reader, it looks like Kourtney may need to swoop in with her infinite wisdom once again after Kim's most recent Twitter post, recounting her exclusive private island 40th birth party as the Covid-19 pandemic reaches yet another peak in the United States.

"After 2 weeks of multiple health screens and asking everyone to quarantine, I surprised my closest inner circle with a trip to a private island where we could pretend things were normal just for a brief moment in time," the reality TV star wrote in a post, accompanied by photos of her friends and families without a mask in sight -- except, of course, for a waiter holding a tray of food in the background, seemingly pissing off the collective internet.

"Are you that insensitive you don't realise this is not what the majority of people during the worst covid spike yet want to hear?" Enlgish musician, Peter Frampton wrote in a Twitter post which has since garnered more than 14,000 likes. "People are going to food banks not private islands."

"Happy birthday," actress Kelechi Okafor quipped on Twitter. "I hope someone got you an alphabet book as a gift, so you can learn to read the room."

Aside from critiquing the let them eat (birthday) kake air of the post, a number of other users expressed their ire with the classist implications of the situation, noting the strain on essential workers hosting the Kardashians and their Krew. "Mask up, poors!" wrote twitter user @big_bruiser, including a zoomed-in screenshot of the aforementioned waiter.

"thinking about the masked server in the background of this 2nd photo, who is likely among many who risked their lives so that kim kardashian could have a birthday party..." added famed chef and cookbook author, Priya Krishna of the photos.

Although Kim acknowledged her privilege, ending her birthday thread nothing how "in moments like these, I am humbly reminded of how privileged my life is," the internet still roasted her into oblivion, as the internet tends to do, adopting her post as a meme template.  From the Parasite house ...

... to Henri Matisse's Dance, courtesy of New York City's Musem of Modern Art ...

... to Club Penguin ...

... to Mystery Island from that one Scooby Doo movie ...

... and even that island in Castaway ...

users created their own Kim K memes, highlighting the absurdity of her birthday vacation.

Moral of the story? Anything you post about your luxury 40th birthday getaway as the world literally burns amid a global pandemic can and will be memed against you -- also, those waiters so deserve a raise.
