22 of the Wildest Ways the Fibonacci Sequence Occurs In Nature

‘Pineapples’

When Fibonacci introduced what would become an eponymous sequence, he did so using rabbits as an analogy. Breeding pairs of rabbits are able to multiply within their ranks infinitely. Unfortunately, because I was told this when I learned about it, all I can ever think about when the Fibonacci sequence comes up is a yard quickly filling with rabbits.

Years have passed, and I have no memory of the numbers or even overall patterns involved. All I remember is “that’s the rabbit equation.” All of this makes me uniquely unqualified to spot the Fibonacci sequence in nature

Luckily, less math-challenged Redditors were more than happy to share strange places the sequence shows up in the wild.
