Daniel Craig Interview Sparks a Whole New Wave of Muppets Outrage
As we mentioned recently, a number of Muppet fans were pretty ticked off by Sesame Street’s recent Knives Out parody, “Forks Out” – not because it wasn’t funny or adorable, but because it felt like a mild attempt to pacify the angry hordes who have been demanding a feature-length Benoit Blanc-Muppet crossover for years now.
At the risk of being pummeled by falling objects, we have a Muppet News Flash: an interview with Daniel Craig sparked a whole new level of outrage amongst the Muppet-loving public.
The big issue folks seemed to have with the Sesame Street sketch is that it starred a puppet version of Blanc, and not a human Daniel Craig, as countless social media users have suggested. Of course, it was hard to get too worked up about it, seeing as how Craig is an A-list movie star, and probably wouldn't have been available or willing to appear in a five minute sketch co-starring Elmo and Cookie Monster, right? Right?!!

Not long after the sketch dropped online, Netflix shared a video of the former James Bond actor watching the clip, and he seemed positively delighted, laughing along and even joking that director Rian Johnson might “recast” him with his puppet doppelganger.
Craig wasn’t just mildly amused, he seemed genuinely full of childlike wonder and awe. “What’s Grover going to do?” he asks at one point. “See, that’s the sort of sidekick I need.” He then suggested that he was actually angry that he wasn’t invited to participate in the spoof. “I’m spitting feathers here that I’m not there actually doing it with them,” he admitted. And in one emotional moment, he remarked, “As someone who grew up on Sesame Street, this is quite moving.”
Muppet fans who had presumably just calmed down after the previous day’s public indignation spit feathers themselves upon learning that Craig would have been totally game to appear in the sketch, but wasn’t ever asked!
At this point, maybe the next Knives Out movie should be about the mystery of who killed the Muppets-Daniel Craig team-up that everybody, including him, seems to want.
