Welfare Critic Jeff Dye Begs For Hand-Outs To Help Him Run Away From Gavin Newsom

Dye claims he only made the GoFundMe as a gag, but other, better comics aren't convinced

Nothing screams, “Pull yourself up by your bootstraps!” quite like a conservative comic asking his fellow taxpayers to subsidize his escape from the Socialist Republic of California.

Over the last ten years, it’s become a cliché in the comedy community for an unfunny, middle-aged white guy to loudly declare that Los Angeles, New York and the mainstream entertainment industry are too woke for his unflinching edginess and announce his intention to move to the conservative safe space of Austin, Texas. However, despite the myriad examples of the phenomenon throughout the years, 42-year-old actor and comedian Jeff Dye is a bit of an outlier in his pending move, and that’s not just because he’s already performed at Joe Rogan’s club Comedy Mothership, which is, of course, the Mecca for free speech warriors everywhere.

While making his obligatory “California is communist” departure post, Dye, who has enjoyed a steady career as a reality show guest panelist and Gutfeld! mainstay, had the audacity to ask the public for donations to help him relocate to a Republican state where he’ll be free from the moochers and looters of Los Angeles.

Upon immediate and predictable backlash to a right-wing celebrity demanding free money for his move, Dye backtracked and shut down his GoFundMe page, claiming that the entire debacle was just an elaborate bit intended to troll California governor Gavin Newsom. However, the rest of the comedy community isn't convinced that Dye was joking, seeing as his punchlines usually involve a woman or an immigrant:

Dye, whose routine revolves around punch-down jokes about women, Muslims and whichever other group that conservatives are complaining about that week, may now act like his attempt to crowd-source a condo in Texas was a joke, but the rest of the conservative media certainly wasn't laughing.

Around the time when actual comedians like Skyler Higley, Gianmarco Soresi and Jay Jurden were flaming Dye, Fox News published a report on Dye's recent appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience and his comments about his relocation, declaring, “Comedian Jeff Dye joins Hollywood exodus, says LA fires were 'quite a wake-up call.'” Hilariously, Fox even attempted to contact Governor Newsom for an official comment on a D-list comedian putting out a mutual aid request to move states.

While Dye claims that he's no longer accepting hand-outs to help him escape California and its communist kingpin, for the sake of the Los Angeles comedy scene, let's hope that Rogan spots Dye a security deposit so they don't have to worry about him bringing a donation bucket.
