Jon Stewart Calls Chuck Schumer ‘A Human Flat Tire’ After Terrible Healthcare Joke

We’d tell Schumer, ‘Don't quit your day job,’ but that would actually solve a lot of our problems

In this first year of the second Trump administration, left-leaning voters have levied significant criticism against Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s leadership abilities, his strategic capabilities and his capacity for reaching the American people with a unified message — but not enough shade has been thrown at Schumer’s sense of humor.

Following the 2024 general elections, when the GOP won the Executive Branch, the House of Representatives and the Senate to go along with their majority in the Supreme Court, opponents of President Donald Trump were anxious to hear the Democratic leadership’s plans for withstanding the storm of a second Trump presidency. So far, Schumer and his allies have written sternly worded letters to Trump, and… well, that’s pretty much it. While Trump tramples the Constitution and a fractured Left devolves into infighting between the centrist establishment and youthful progressives, Schumer has been the limp hand loosely clasped around the steering wheel as the skid threatens to spiral out of control.

Now, as the Democrats in Congress push their opponents to make minor concessions and extend Affordable Care Act subsidies in order to prevent millions of Americans from losing their health insurance, Schumer is stepping up to the podium and workshopping the absolute shittiest wordplay jokes that we’ve ever heard from a supposed resistance leader. In a speech that Daily Show host Jon Stewart eviscerated during last night's broadcast, Schumer derailed an important press conference with the bit, “New data came out today from KFF — and that is not Kentucky Fried… French Fries. KFF: could be Kentucky French Fries.”

Asked a dumbfounded Stewart, “Who is that joke even for? Six-year-olds that watch C-SPAN?”

No, KFF does not stand for Kentucky French Fries, but rather The Kaiser Family Foundation, a nonprofit organization that conducts research, polling, journalism and education campaigns regarding public health. Unfortunately, whatever vital piece of data that KFF released was overshadowed by Schumers inexplicable decision to perform hack word-association comedy that made the entire room cringe.

“What the f--- are you doing???” Stewart asked the Senate Minority Leader, adding, “Chuck Schumer is a human flat tire. ‘Kentucky Fried French Fries? Look at (Amy) Klobuchar, poor Klobuchar. That is the face of someone who talked to their dad, who said, ‘Please don’t do your Indian accent in the restaurant.” Stewart also called Schumer “Hackie Mason” for his shockingly inept and ill-timed attempt at a punchline.

However, and despite Schumer’s failings as a joke-teller, Stewart believes that the Senator from New York could still redeem himself as a Democratic leader if he holds firm amidst the ongoing government shutdown. “Look I’ve given Democrats an enormous amount of shit for their poor leadership, lack of specific and actionable plans, terrible messaging, abysmal wordplay. Did I mention poor leadership?” Stewart snarked. “But standing up for 75 million Americans in this moment to defend the rights of people to go into a little less medical debt seems like the least they can f---ing do,” Stewart said of Schumer and the other minority leaders.

Well, that, and save their awful puns for open mic night at the Capitol.
