‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ Fans Pour One Out for The Gang’s Favorite Hair Inspiration — The Late Hulk Hogan

‘That is Hulk Hogan’s signature look’

After news broke that Hulk Hogan passed away at the age of 71, Always Sunny fans immediately remembered the wrestler’s legacy with regards to Paddy’s Pub, and recalled the time he stumped Dee, Dennis and Mac with his signature look.

“What’s going on with Hulk Hogan’s hair?” Dee asked during Season Five’s “The Gang Wrestles for the Troops.” “It's blond, and yet, it’s silken like that of a Chinese man.”

“Ah, yes, that is Hulk Hogan’s signature look — blond Chinese hair and skin of a hotdog,” Dennis explained. “The whole thing’s fake, but it’s really awesome.”

Beyond adding to Always Sunny’s long list of concerning racial jokes, the clip now serves to memorialize Hogan’s brief role in the IASIPTU (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Television Universe). As such, several fans of the long-running series ran to the show’s subreddit to join in reflection.

“I never was able to look at Hulk Hogan without thinking silken hair and hot dog skin,” wrote one commenter, while another mourned the match of the century that never came to pass: Hogan taking on Frank Reynolds’ ring persona. “He never wrestled The Trashman,” they joked/lamented.

Hogan “really tarnished his legacy over the last few decades,” as one fan put it, not even having to mention Hogan’s myriad racist, personal and professional transgressions for everyone to get what they were talking about, but he’ll always remain right at home alongside the degenerates of Paddy’s Pub.

Fly low, brother.
