Bride Turns Her Mother's Wedding Gown Into Wedding Night Lingerie

We've all heard of brides repurposing the wedding dresses of their mothers and grandmothers to wear on their special day, resulting in beautiful photo ops, sentimental moments, and treasured, sometimes even royal heirlooms to pass down to the next generation. However, one bride took this vintage reworking trend to, erm, uncomfortable new heights, fashioning a "sexy slip" for her big night from her mother's old wedding gown. Because nothing says sexy wedding night fun like wearing your mother's clothing, right?

"Another mum's wedding dress design," wrote the garment's creator in a Facebook post, including a photo of the bride in the slip holding a framed portrait of her mother. "A sexy slip to wear during the hair and makeup as well as the wedding night."

While most of us could probably get on board with the former, maybe sans the "sexy" adjective, the post was shared to a Facebook group called "thats it, I'm wedding shaming (non ban-happy edition)" where, well, as the group's name implies, it took on a life of its own -- for better or worse. This is the internet, after all, folks.

"That's gross enough to mentally scar someone and ruin the entire night or possibly weekend," wrote one user of the slip. "This will make an interesting story for her husband's therapist," added another.

I do sure love me a good shaming page, but yikes, I almost feel for this bride. Sure, on some level wearing your mom's lingerie may be a bit unconventional, but to paraphrase Kacey Musgraves, "Mend your own fences and own your own crazy." Like most of the odd-ish stories on this site,  as long as you're not hurting anyone, keep living your best life, even if that means wearing your mom's as clothing as lingerie, you do you.

Moral of the story? Maybe try leaving the "something old" for your veil, gown, or ring and the "something blue" for your lingerie at risk of apparently getting roasted on the internet. Or, live your best life, whatever makes you -- and your partner -- happy on your wedding night. Get it, girl!
