Movie critics exist so we can tell 'em they're wrong.
Tell Us Now: Critically Panned Movies We Love

We asked Cracked readers on Facebook, “What’s a movie that’s generally considered bad that you will always defend?” The responses we received were…well, pretty much every movie that is considered bad by critics. We’re beginning to think movie critics exist as a reason for us to be gleefully contrarian and say, “Hey, movie snob, actually you’re wrong. That movie was great. Why don’t you just enjoy something for once?”

Let it be known that the Cracked staff doesn’t personally stand by every one of these movies, but we did think the responses were interesting enough to warrant being posted. (But on record, we absolutely love the soundtrack of Josie and the Pussycats.

Here are 15 movies that Cracked readers think deserve a second shot, no matter what critics say. What do you have to lose watching them again and judging them for yourself, besides two hours of your one wild and precious life?

The Flintstones Movie

CRACKED TELL US NOW CRITICALLY PANNED MOVIES WE LOVE THE FLINTSTONES MOVIE Colleen D. says, It is far from anything special, but it's John Goodman and Rick Moranis walking around being goofy on a near-perfect set recreation of the cartoon. What's not to like?

Josie and the Pussycats

CRACKED TELL US NOW CRITICALLY PANNED MOVIES WE LOVE JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS Chris C. says, An underrated time capsule of a movie with a perfect cast, amazing soundtrack, clever satire, and a beautifully nostalgic turn-of-the-millennium youth culture aesthetic that takes you back to those carefree (9/11 hadn't happened yet) times.

The Rocker

CRACKED TELL US NOW CRITICALLY PANNED MOVIES WE LOVE THE ROCKER Russell C. says, I know it bombed at the box office but I think it's really funny. It also has a great cast. Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone, and Josh Gad all before they were really famous.

Jupiter Ascending

CRACKED TELL US NOW CRITICALLY PANNED MOVIES WE LOVE PIC JUPITER ASCENDING Gina T. raves, When we walked out of the theater I turned to my husband and said, 'That was terrible, we're buying it the minute it's on DVD.' As a serious sci-fi movie it's a disaster. As a guilty pleasure, it is utter perfection.

Waiting...

CRACKED TELL US NOW CRITICALLY PANNED MOVIES WE LOVE PB Monty WAITING... Jason F. says, As I spent WAAAY too much time in the restaurant biz, I can attest that everything in that movie is dead accurate to the industry.

Waterworld

CRACKED TELL US NOW CRITICALLY PANNED MOVIES WE LOVE WATERWORLD Nathan C. says, It was given way more crap than it deserved... It was also particularly visually appealing, where everything had a very tactile, mechanical feel to it.

League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

CRACKED TELL US NOW CRITICALLY PANNED MOVIES WE LOVE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN Trevor S. shares, The only people who seem to have a hate-on for it are the comic book nerds, and, while I can appreciate adhering to source material, the movie on its own is a fun romp.

Last Action Hero

CRACKED TELL US NOW CRITICALLY PANNED MOVIES WE LOVE los II 1000 PLAN - su BUGSY LAST ACTION HERO Jenn M. says, Those who panned it as a 'bad movie' clearly didn't get it.

Killer Klowns from Outer Space

CRACKED TELL US NOW CRITICALLY PANNED MOVIES WE LOVE KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE Angela K. says that the movie is horribly done but so funny to watch.

Flash Gordon

CRACKED TELL US NOW CRITICALLY PANNED MOVIES WE LOVE FLASH GORDON Joshua M. says, The lead actor is terrible, the special effects are ridiculous even for the time, but the aesthetic, both visual and aural (with that great soundtrack by Queen) just sucks me in every time.

Howard the Duck

CRACKED TELL US NOW CRITICALLY PANNED MOVIES WE LOVE HOWARD THE DUCK Benjamin V. says, Yes, it's cheesy and silly, and it's not easy to tell if it's taking itself seriously or not. But if you decide that it's tongue-in-cheek and purposely campy, there are a lot of laughs in there. Jeffrey Jones' performance is fantastic, and Lea Thompson wasn't terrible, and it's fun to see an early Tim Robbins performance. Get over yourself and have a good time.

Equilibrium

CRACKED TELL US NOW CRITICALLY PANNED MOVIES WE LOVE EQUILIBRIUM John А. says, A legitimately original take on gunfighting that was visually stunning... Speculative fiction as a cautionary tale, but it was never preachy. For some reason, critics almost unanimously hated it, but every 'normal' person I know who's seen it has loved it. It's a legit good flick that never got its due.

Joe vs. the Volcano

CRACKED TELL US NOW CRITICALLY PANNED MOVIES WE LOVE JOE VS THE VOLCANO Phillip P. tells us, There is one scene that is unforgettable - when 'Joe' is reminded about how big and beautiful the world is (while standing looking at the moonrise).

Demolition Man

CRACKED TELL US NOW CRITICALLY PANNED MOVIES WE LOVE DEMOLITION MAN Missy L. raves, There isn't a better action film out there. It's a classic!

Batman and Robin

CRACKED TELL US NOW CRITICALLY PANNED MOVIES WE LOVE BATMAN AND ROBIN Maren W. says, Batman and Robin is a genuinely fun well produced big budget version of the lovable 60's Batman. It's got a bit of 90s edge to make it modern (for the time) that is dated but charmingly so. Plus that score is a banger in its own right.
