31 Sci-Fi Technologies and How They Turned Out in the Real World
Some good, some bad, some probably weren’t worth the effort

We’ve all had that moment: You’re watching or reading a science-fiction thing, some imaginative piece of technology comes up and you can’t help but wonder what it would be like to have access to it in the real world. While most of us simply daydream about these ideas, others out there have gone and tried to make those fantasies a reality. That cool holographic screen from Minority Report? Of course people at MIT were going to try to make it a thing.
Sometimes they work out. Other times they’re laughably useless. More often than not, however, our real versions end up more practical and streamlined than the fantasy versions ever were.
