Is ‘South Park’ Finally Giving Fans A New Halloween Episode This Week?

While Trey Parker and Matt Stone are likely still in the process of frantically scrambling to put together this week’s South Park episode, we do have our first clue as to what it will actually be about.

As some attentive fans pointed out on social media, the episode’s title is currently listed as “Twisted Christian” (of course, Parker and Stone could still change the title again at the last minute, as they’ve done in the past). According to the synopsis, the show will be about how “Cartman is possessed and may be the key to stopping the Antichrist.”

Also, this episode is technically the premiere of Season 28, meaning that Season 27 was just a measly five episodes long.

Presumably the Antichrist in question is Satan and Trump’s “Butt Baby,” not one of the multiple other Antichrists we’ve met on South Park before, such as Satan’s first kid, Damien, or the unholy monstrosity conjured during the adorable “blood orgy” in “Woodland Critter Christmas.”

Given that Cartman will be "possessed," and the episode is dropping in mid-October, does that mean that “Twisted Christian” will be Halloween-themed?

South Park fans would likely be pleased, seeing as how many of them have already been clamoring for another Halloween episode this fall. The last time that the show touched on the spooky season was way back in 2018, in Season 22’s scooter-centric Hitchcock parody “The Scoots.”

This would make sense considering that Satan, who has been at the forefront of this season/last season, was the focal point of a previous Halloween episode, Season 10’s “Hell on Earth 2006,” which was most famous for joking about Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin mere weeks after his death.

Of course, just because Cartman is “possessed” doesn’t necessarily mean that the episode will be about Halloween. After all, Cartman was already possessed by a spirit after he drank Kenny’s ashes in a non-Halloween Season Six episode.

If this week’s episode does end up going full Halloween horror, it still probably won’t be able to match the jump-scare that was seeing Trump’s microdick three months ago.
