The Comedy You’ll Love Based on Your Zodiac Sign, According to Netflix
Netflix already suggests new titles based on your viewing history. But starting Saturday, you’ll be able to access even more recommendations, thanks to its new astrology hub. “Your Zodiac Watchlist” will recommend movies and shows based on each astrological sign (don’t worry — if Netflix knows your birthday, it’s not letting on), then updating the collection throughout the year as the pages turn on the zodiac calendar.
What comedies might Netflix suggest to you, depending on your birth sign? With cosmic help from the site’s beta hub, here are funny movies and TV shows that might align with your personal star chart…
Virgo
“Virgos are always hustling,” says Netflix, so how about Jack Black’s The Polka King, the hilarious story of a real-life Polish-American polka band leader who got busted for running a Ponzi scheme?
Libra
“Libras play fair in love and war,” so Netflix suggests its action-comedy Back in Action, featuring eternally handsome Jamie Foxx and effervescent Cameron Diaz as ex-CIA operatives pulled back into one more mission. It’s the film that convinced Diaz to come out of retirement, so how bad can it be?
Scorpio
“Scorpios revel in mystery,” which somehow translates to Rush Hour 2 in Netflix-land. Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker continue to misunderstand each other’s accents as they battle international crime lords.
Sagittarius
“Sagittarians bring adventure,” making Matt Groening’s Disenchantment the animated comedy recommendation. Think The Simpsons in the Middle Ages.
Capricorn
“Capricorns activate boss mode,” whatever that means. To Netflix, that translates into Saturday Night, the comic dramatization of the first-ever episode of Saturday Night Live.
Aquarius
Netflix claims that “Aquarians are otherworldly,” so the comedy recommendation is, of course, Coneheads. As feature-length adaptations of Saturday Night Live sketches go, it’s definitely one of them.
Pisces
“Pisces manifest the dream,” so why not relive those visions over and over again with Netflix’s suggested comedy, Groundhog Day?
Aries
“Aries love chaos and competition.” That means lots of cutthroat reality shows, the goofiest of which is probably Snack vs. Chef, in which the pros try to cook up their own version of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos.
Taurus
“Taurus is the life of the party,” a quality Netflix celebrates in John Hughes’ classic teen comedy Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Watch him give good kids bad ideas.
Gemini
“Geminis spill the tea,” a gossipy quality that doesn’t seem all that funny. Nonetheless, Netflix suggests a boatload of Gemini-appropriate comedies, including Detroiters, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee and Portlandia. Gemini is also the stand-up special star sign — at least according to the streamer.
Cancer
“Cancers will cry if they want to,” says Netflix, suggesting a bunch of sappy romances. Grab a blanket and snuggle in for a couple of seasons of Gilmore Girls, which at least delivers a few laughs among the heartfelt hugs.
Leo
“Leos have main character energy,” which is why Netflix thinks they’ll love Emily in Paris. Sure, the show bribed a bunch of Golden Globes voters, but it probably would have been nominated for Best Musical or Comedy anyway, right?
