An MMA Star Says This Piece of Advice from Hank Hill Is the Key to Winning in the Octagon

To MMA star Andrew Sanchez, Hank Hill’s fighting advice doesn’t stop at hitting above the belt. Sanchez recently sounded off on fellow fighter Khalil Rountree Jr.’s October UFC bout against Jiri Procházka, arguing that some wise words from the famed propane salesman could help determine who wins.

“I mean, Khalil is nasty, man. He’s knocking everyone out now,” Sanchez said of his training partner during a recent interview with sports reporter Dylan Bowker.

But nastiness isn’t the Hank Hill-approved X factor Sanchez thinks will make the difference against Procházka. “He’s just so athletic, explosive, and like good fundamentals. I think better fundamentals than Jiri,” Sanchez explained. “That’s what it comes down to: fundamentals. Like you know, like Hank Hill says. King of the Hill, man.”

Hank’s famous line about liking “the fundamentals” came after a failed attempt at rekindling his spark with Peggy, so it’s unclear if this can also be applied to combat sports. But if emulating Hank doesn’t prove effective, Rountree can always take a page from Bobby Hill’s book: “That’s my belt! I don’t know you!”
