The Best Bits from Hank Hill’s First Reddit AMA
For a guy who doesn’t know what a JPG is, Hank Hill can sure run one hell of an AMA.
He took to the King of the Hill subreddit for his first-ever AMA earlier today, answering questions on everything from Texas history to his tried-and-true Alamo beer.
“I have a lot of respect for anybody who makes anything with their own two hands,” he wrote when asked if participating in a homebrewing competition had changed his view on beer. This admiration, though, does come with some hard boundaries: “I have no respect for beers that can be described the following ways: fruit-forward, tart, floral, bold, aromatic, earthy, nutty, infused, velvet-y, spiced, smokey, herbal or funky.”
Don't Miss
Hank also had a lot to say about the state of Texas sports. Beyond demanding that Dallas Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones “stop messing around and pay Micah Parsons,” Hank had some thoughts about the Dallas Mavericks’ decision to trade Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers.
“I read all about that Luka Doncic trade, and to me, it just seems like a textbook case of people in power completely disregarding what their constituents actually want,” Hank said before taking a turn for the meta. “If I was ever in charge of making a decision that big — whether it’s trading a franchise player after seven years or, say, bringing one back after fifteen years — I’d like to think I wouldn’t just do it in such a brash and callous manner.”
But no questions piqued Hank’s interest quite as much as those surrounding his true love of sweet lady propane. After he offered practical advice on BTUs and cited the 1932 Olympic Village’s usage of propane as his favorite moment in the fuel’s history, Hank was able to combine his passions for clear-burning fuel and traditional Republican politics. He argued that Ronald Reagan, more than any other President, would’ve made a great addition to the Strickland Propane team.
“I really can’t think of anyone better to sell propane than the man that removed price controls on oil & gas, leading to an industry-wide boom,” he replied.
The most difficult question Hank faced, however, didn’t have to do with gases, sports or the downsides of charcoal. It was which of Dale Gribble’s conspiracy theories he’d most like to debunk. “This may be the toughest question on here, because Dale is an idiot,” Hank replied. “I suppose the one truth would be: If he doesn’t return my rotary drill by tomorrow, I’ll kick his ass.”
