Here Are the Funniest Reviews From ‘SNL’ Cast Member Sarah Sherman’s Letterboxd Account

Sarah Sherman is one of the best tools in Saturday Night Live’s arsenal. She’s a flexible performer, capable of playing Stephen Miller, ensemble in Shrek the Musical, and the leader of the Peppa Pig fan club. Not to mention, she’s making sure Colin Jost is getting sufficiently bullied on set, much to his eternal delight. And while we all wish that some of her “too gross for TV” sketch pitches could make it on screen for Season 51 of SNL, we’ll always have “Meatballs.”

While we’ll never know the true inner workings of Sherman’s genius, we can get a little bit of a peak behind the curtain with her social media accounts. On Instagram, we get a hint of what her brain looks like, which is filled with eyeballs, color bombs and a fair bit of gooey body parts.

But for an even deeper look into her inner world, you have to be following Sherman on Letterboxd. For those unfamiliar, Letterboxd is a social media site for film lovers, where you can log reviews for movies you’ve seen, mark movies that you want to watch in the future and create film lists.

To no one’s surprise, Sherman’s reviews are a real treat. A sampling:

  • Eddington (2025): “*FIREWORK by Katy Perry plays*”
  • Weapons (2025): “what does it mean if i literally own two of the dresses The Woman wears…”
  • Lifeforce (1985): “where is tobe hooper’s star on the hollywood walk of fame??? no justice in this world…”
  • Shock Treatment (1981): “The Valley (2025): Jax goes to ‘the facility’”
  • Flatliners (1990): “no one in this movie wants julia roberts to flatline because she’s too beautiful”
  • Event Horizon (1997): annual cozy comfort rewatch
  • 28 Days Later (2002): proof that a little color contacts can go a loooong way

Even more illuminating is the list of films that are Sherman’s watchlist. There’s Shifty, about the rise of U.K. hyper-individualism; Meatball Machine, about alien parasite invaders that make bio weapons out of human flesh; Blood Beach, about a murderous creature stalking the shore; and After Blue (Dirty Paradise), about a futuristic world where an untamed female planet is home to mystical assassins and murderous teens.

Not only does this give us a look at Sherman’s creative inspirations, it’s also just a really good list of films to watch. Plus, you might get some insider information on the inspiration behind some of the sketches that make it on to SNL. At the very least, you can have a good list of movies to work through until the season premiere of SNL in October.
