A Secret ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ Trailer Reveals the Late, Great Lynne Marie Stewart’s Best-Ever Line

Comedy legend Lynne Marie Stewart recorded her final scenes in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia before her passing, and you couldn’t have gotten a better send-off from Bonnie Kelly if you brought a bottle of vodka to her on Christmas morning.

When news first broke that Stewart had died from cancer at the age of 78 back on February 21, 2025, the loss sent shockwaves through the It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia fandom and family. The show’s stars wrote touching eulogies for their old friend, and viewers shared their favorite, most messed-up moments from her time on the show that continue to make us laugh uncontrollably at poor Charlie’s childhood trauma. Saying goodbye to Stewart was one of the saddest moments in the history of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, but getting these last few episodes with her will be a blessing as her character goes out with a bang.

Yesterday evening, the official It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Instagram account posted a hidden teaser for the rest of Season 17 following the night’s two-episode season premiere, and Stewart’s contribution to this compilation of questions from the season is unmissable:

“What bring you here?” Dennis asks Ms. Kelly earnestly.

She replies with a beaming smile that reminds us of The Most Beautiful Woman in Puppet Land, “To be a slut!”

Canonically, Bonnie Kelly is technically more of a sex worker than simply a promiscuous woman, seeing as she usually doesnt let Santas or their elves give her any Christmas cheer without some payment, a bottle of vodka and a gift for her glue-sniffing son Charlie. But, hey, we wont begrudge Ms. Kelly over semantics — were just glad to have her on for these last few weeks.

Back in 2023, Cracked talked to Stewart ahead of the It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 16 premiere, and she said that coming back to the show for another year “was like going home again.” Now, as we prepare to watch her final scenes in the show, we cant help but feel that this home has a little less warmth, laughter and brightness as it once did. Well flicker the lights three times in her honor.
