Jon Hamm and John Slattery will finally stretch their comedy muscles together
Somehow, the ‘Wet Hot American Summer’ Guys Are Pulling Off A ‘Mad Men’ Reunion

Jon Hamm and John Slattery will work together again on David Wain and Ken Marino’s new R-rated comedy that currently remains untitled, but I bet they have someone on the team who can come up with something marketable.

Early on in their careers, Wain and Marino had a habit of turning relatively-to-completely unknown actors into massive stars through projects like their cult-hit comedy Wet Hot American Summer. Between Bradley Cooper, Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler alone, the veterans of the massively influential sketch comedy group The State are some of the most important kingmakers in the history of comedy, TV and film, and their breakthrough hit parody of 1980s teen sex comedies spawned both a prequel and a sequel series on Netflix that attracted big-name talent.

For Wain and Marino’s next project, they’re returning to the R-rated sex comedy format, only, instead of turning their actors into Emmy-worthy A-listers, the comedy giants are reuniting the stars from one of the biggest TV shows of the 21st century with Hamm and Slattery. Considering how Hamm’s last collab with the Wet Hot American Summer team went, Draper and Sterling might be about to have the funniest slap-fight in advertising history:

“In the film, a Midwestern bride-to-be, Gail Daughtry (Zoey Deutch), has a celebrity hall pass agreement with her fiancé… who uses it,” Variety's description reads. “Their relationship in crisis, Gail sets out on an epic journey through Hollywood to even the scales.”

Along with starring in the R-rated comedy, both Hamm and Slattery will serve as executive producers on what is currently called the Untitled Celebrity Pass Movie, though Draper will certainly have some strong feelings about the working title. Beyond the simple allure of having two of the most celebrated performers from one of the best TV shows of all time on the same screen once again, Wain and Marinos new movie will give both actors, best known for their dramatic performances, the welcome opportunity to go full comedy together.

Hamm, of course, has proven himself to be much funnier than what people who are blinded by his handsomeness may assume, landing a lauded role on 30 Rock and playing a hilarious parody of the womanizer archetype he fits so well in the 2011 Kristen Wiig comedy Bridesmaids. However, Slattery has shown himself to be a more than capable comedic performer in his own right, semi-recently nailing a show-stealing role as himself in an episode of What We Do in the Shadows.

Hamm and Slattery previously collaborated on the comedy Confess, Fletch in 2022, but the TV drama legends must still feel the urge to get silly if theyre hopping onboard a Wain/Marino production. Seeing the duo on-screen flexing their underrated comedic muscles will be enough of a draw to get Mad Men fans with a sense of humor in the the theaters, and Flattery and Hamms handsome faces on the poster will be some excellent advertising.
