Jennifer Coolidge Says ‘A Minecraft Movie’ Was Her All-Time Favorite On-Screen Romance
Jennifer Coolidge hasn’t seen this much hot, heavy and entirely juvenile on-screen action since she was Stifler’s Mom.
In case anyone couldn’t hear the shrieks of children and man-children alike reverberating from the nearest movie theater, the latest highly anticipated, Jack Black-starred feature film adaptation of a popular video game opened last weekend. Following up Black’s massive commercial success and muted critical reaction to The Super Mario Bros. Movie back in 2023, A Minecraft Movie has already grossed $150 million while audiences struggle to maintain their composure when they hear the line, “Chicken Jockey!”

Coolidge, one of the many celebrity guests in A Minecraft movie, also struggled to maintain her self-control when she had to shoot the scene where her character, Vice Principal Marlene, accidentally hits the CGI-generated Nitwit the Villager with her car, thus forming a romantic connection that Coolidge considers the most carnal of her career, as she explained to The Hook:
In A Minecraft Movie, Coolidge’s character accidentally strikes Nitwit, a villager from the Overworld who is astoundingly voiced by British comedy great Matt Berry, with her car after Nitwit escapes into our dimension, leading to a brief, torrid and entirely insane romantic subplot between the two side characters while Jack Black and friends dealt with the more important world-saving plot line.
“You know, I didn’t know what he was going to look like until I had a scene with him. And I have to say, I didn’t really know that I would be that attracted to it,” Coolidge said of her on-screen crush. “I mean, I think of all the (romantic) scenes I’ve had over the years with different people, different actors, all the sex scenes and stuff, and I have to say my scene with Nitwit — I think it’s the most attracted I’ve ever been to a character.”
While Coolidge has shared screens big and small with countless hunks throughout her celebrated career, not the least of which was the chiseled Italian hitman who courted her with nefarious intentions during Season Two of The White Lotus, Nitwit has no equal in Coolidge's eyes — among other body parts. “Certainly turned on,” Coolidge said of her first impressions of her scene partner.
When her co-star Jason Momoa asked Coolidge how A Minecraft Movie director Jared Hess sold her on a romantic arc with a geometric CGI NPC, Coolidge admitted, “He just sent me a naked photo of (Nitwit).”
“I’d love to see this photo,” Momoa said, then asking about the kids' movie character’s cock and balls, “Is it blocky? Square?”
