Creating a good TV show can be kind of like trying to catch a fart in the wind, so as tedious as it can be, it’s not surprising that so many of them these days are reboots of past successes. If they’re going to keep spoon-feeding us the same old shit, though, it could at least be good shit. There are so many series from the 1990s and aughts whose premises are intrinsically primed for a modern reboot, so get on it, Hollywood.
Specifically, Redditor Expletive_Deleted4 recently brought up 3rd Rock from the Sun, pointing out that “the entire show revolved around the ‘family’ of aliens getting to come to earth and learn about urban customs and human life,” and those customs have changed so much since they went home in May 2001. Wouldn’t it be fun to see them come back and relearn how to live in the post-9/11 world?
More largely, they also asked r/Television, “What show deserves a ‘20 years later’ reboot?” and Reddit responded with the characters they wanna catch up with, worlds they’d like to see evolve, and obviously, Firefly.
