John Leguizamo Wants to Play Gwyneth Paltrow in Her Inevitable Ski Trial Series

After James Franco inexplicably landed the role of Cuban dictator Fidel Castro in the upcoming film Alina of Cuba, Daily Show guest host John Leguizamo has fired back – if white people are going to steal culturally significant roles from Latino actors, he’s gonna steal some of our monsters, too.

Last night, Leguizamo devoted a segment during his valuable Daily Show audition time to address the lack of Latino representation in TV and film, a subject with which he has some modicum of personal experience. As Leguizamo pointed out, Latino actors fill only 5% of all speaking roles on screen despite Latino people making up 18% of the population in the United States – so Franco playing Fidel is an extra slap in the face for an already underrepresented group of artists.

Not only did Leguizamo declare himself to be in the running to play Gwyneth Paltrow on trial for a skiing accident once American Crime Story runs out of ideas – he also gave a glimpse into the average Hollywood audition room from his point of view:
