Ashly Burch is the Voice Of Your Favorite Video Game Hero
With the release of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, the Borderlands spin-off featuring the wee warrior Tiny Tina, Ashly Burch is once again in the headlines… and our hearts. Tiny Tina is just the latest in a string of incredible characters voiced by Burch. In fact, you’ve probably heard her more than you think. Her career is fascinating and more than a little inspirational. So listen good, you just might learn how to break into Hollywood if you follow Ashly’s lead.
She got her start all the way back in 2008 with a show she and her brother made called Hey Ash, Whatcha Playin’? She played an outsized version of herself and her brother (a real life game reviewer) co-starred with her. The series became a hit, coming up in the early days of YouTube. Her first voice acting gig came a few years after the show began and she’s been CRUSHING it ever since.
Life is Strange? She’s in it. Valorant? She plays Viper. Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite? Oh yeah baby she’s freakin’ CHUN-LI. And there’s a little game you maybe have heard of called Horizon Zero Dawn or if that doesn’t do anything for you, how about Horizon Forbidden West?! She voices the main character Aloy. Yup, your favorite red-headed, realistically peach-fuzzed heroine is also voiced by Burch. These are only a tiny fraction of the games she’s lent her considerable talent to.
Burch’s warm, always authentic delivery makes you feel like you’re instantly on her side… and that she’s on yours. And her versatile range makes her equally well suited to play a 13 year old socio-path in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands as she is to playing the space socio-path Nebula in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3. Oh, that’s not enough for you? She’s also in your favorite TV show (probably.) Critical Role, Mythic Quest (ok this one might not be your favorite but it’s still pretty good), Attack on Titan, We Bare Bears, and Steven Universe (this one is probably your favorite).
There’s one last fact about Burch that is going to knock your socks off and have you putting up Ashly posters all over your room and/or locker. She. Is. An. Emmy award winning writer. Are you writhing with jealousy? Are you lighting candles at your new Ashly altar? Have you stopped reading because you got an email that distracted you? Doesn’t matter, you’re going to be thinking about (and hearing from) Ashly Burch for a long, long time.
