Tk Photos of the 1970s That Make Us Glad it's 2025
If you lived through the seventies, you might look back with rose-colored lenses, but you know some things just weren't right. While there was a lot of freedom to do whatever you wanted, there was also a lot of freedom to do whatever you wanted without any kind of supervision or safety measures.
From shady toys made with materials that were later banned to cars that could be dangerous for everyone on board, and canned foods you wouldn't eat today, the seventies were full of unexplainable things that nobody questioned at the time. A lot of modern safety measures in workspaces and vehicles were created during the ‘70s after unfortunate incidents that were so easy to avoid, it’s mindboggling nobody thought about them sooner.
And while the quality of some products peaked in the '70s, there were also a lot of really bad things you could buy back then.
So, here are some photos of the 1970s that make us glad it's 2025.
Typing Class
It could be useful in the very long run, but it usually wasn't.
Kids Clothes
No two alike.
Titanic Board Game
A bit dark for kids, don't you think?
Super Slide
Safety wasn't a thing in the '70s.
Sleek Streek
A great toy that could give you a few minutes of fun, tops.
Controversial Music
Even before the ‘80s satanic panic, your parents wouldn’t let you buy a record with guys who painted their faces like that.
Pong
It was the first video game ever, released in 1972. That was the entire video game catalog at the time. Nothing else.
Picnic Day
What's with that guy hanging in there?
Rotary Phone
You had one, and making a call took some time.
Orange Juice
Have you ever smashed your orange juice until it was ready?
Energy Crisis
Thank god we don't have those anymore, right?
Kung-Fu Shirts
This was a thing for some reason.
Kid's Chair
It was probably safe. For 1970s standards.
Halloween Loot
Yes, that's fruit.
Handheld Entertainment
No need to plug it anywhere, just play.
Music Class
It wouldn't go beyond this.
Car Interiors
They looked great, but the smells would never leave the car.
Inflatable Punching Bop Bag
The ultimate toy at the time.
Autodex Personal Address & Phonebook
The only way to know phone numbers and addresses. And, at some point, you didn't even need them because you remembered them.
Chairlift
No safety whatsoever. And people thought that was okay.
