Devon Walker isn’t returning to 30 Rockefeller Center this fall. The three-year SNL alum announced yesterday that he wouldn’t be appearing in the show’s upcoming 51st season, and described his experience on the sketch series as both “really cool” and “toxic as hell.”
“We made the most of what it was, even amidst all of the dysfunction,” he explained in an Instagram post on Monday. “We made a fucked up lil family.”
BoJack Horseman creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg is also reflecting on a pivotal moment in his TV career. He recently admitted that one of his “bigger mistakes” from the Netflix series was failing to hire Vietnamese-American writers to help create Diane Nguyen. “The real complaint about Diane from Vietnamese-American viewers was that she didn’t feel authentically Vietnamese,” he explained.
Though casting Alison Brie to voice Diane certainly didn’t help this issue, Bob-Waksberg said the character’s shortcomings largely stemmed from “the way the character was crafted” in the show’s all-white writers’ room.
Unlike Bob-Waksberg, we’re confident you won’t have any regrets about reading these hilarious tweets. Today’s funniest include those about Nike discounts, the real meaning of “bush” and a tiramisuitcase.
