Michael Longfellow Reportedly Complained About How ‘It Sucks’ to Have Gotten Fired From ‘SNL’ at Weekend Comedy Gig

‘I don’t actually know my neighbor, but he knows I’m fired’

According to former Saturday Night Live cast member Michael Longfellow, the only thing worse than getting fired from the show is having the entire world know you got fired from the show.

The comedian allegedly opened up about getting the axe from SNL during a performance in New York City over the holiday weekend, explaining just how much “it sucks” that he won’t be returning to Studio 8H this fall.

A Redditor, who says they were in attendance at the Bell House show, claims Longfellow told audience members that he wasn’t expecting to be let go from SNL, that he learned that he had been fired from his agent and “has not spoken” to Lorne Michaels about the decision.

More frustrating than not hearing from his former boss, however, is the publicity surrounding his dismissal from the show. “My neighbor knows I’m fired. I don’t actually know my neighbor. He doesn’t know me. But he knows I’m fired,” Longfellow reportedly joked of the high-profile nature of his departure.

Longfellow also took a moment to deny the now-viral claims that he had completed a screen test for “Weekend Update” prior to his departure. “(He) does not know how that rumor was started,” the Redditor explained.

But in the face of all this bad news and SNL’s ever-churning rumor mill, Longfellow appeared to be otherwise taking his disappointment in stride. “That being said, he seemed ok?” the Redditor concluded, noting that Longfellow spent some time chatting with fans “around the bar” following his performance.

And why wouldn’t he be? As his former SNL co-star Devon Walker tweeted last week, “ya’ll acting like we died lol we just getting different jobs.”
