John Redcorn and Nancy Gribble Are Still Getting It on in the ‘King of the Hill’ Revival
Bad news for Dale Gribble: His wife, Nancy Gribble and her longtime lover, John Redcorn appear to be back at it again during the King of the Hill revival.
Within six minutes of the season premiere, it’s apparent that the pair’s on-again, off-again romance is most certainly back on. Moments after Peggy Hill returns to Rainey Street from her time abroad in Saudi Arabia, Nancy can’t help but flaunt her new digital series, Selling Arlen to her. A clear take on Selling Sunset, the social media show isn’t only hosted by Nancy and John Redcorn, but it also features the two cosplaying as a married couple enjoying their new home, a premise that came from a very unexpected source.
“It was Dale’s idea,” Nancy tells Peggy after showing her the clip.

It’s never explicitly stated that the two are back together, but the hints are there. “Redcorn’s tapping that, right?” a commenter on the Selling Arlen pilot asks, prompting Nancy to snap her laptop shut.
In the next episode, the couple’s now-adult child, Joseph Gribble, obliviously sets the stage for the lovers’ arrival at a homebrewing contest. “You’d be surprised at how bad some people are at hiding their affairs,” Joseph tells Bobby about blackmailing a competition judge mere seconds before spying his biological parents.
“Oh, hey! John Redcorn is here!” he says, the camera panning to a visibly sex-haired Nancy standing by her (other) man.
So why bring Nancy and John Redcorn back together?
Beyond setting up jokes about Dale’s obliviousness — John Redcorn is conspicuously listed as the only “trusted” face on the exterminator’s conspiracy corkboard during a later episode — the pair’s forbidden romance seemingly serves as an old-school counterbalance to new ideas around monogamy.
Connie Souphanousinphone, Chane Wassanasong and Bobby Hill, now in their early 20s, have decided to break free from the apparent Rainey Street tradition of cheating. Instead, they’ve opted to embrace ethical non-monogamy. Their approach leaves quite a bit to be desired — “Look, we can still meet up later to have sex later if you want, I’ll do that for you!” Chane yells after dismissing Connie at her parents’ anniversary party — but it’s still arguably a step up from full-on infidelity.
That said, the Nancy-John Redcorn recoupling didn’t please everyone. “I’m annoyed that Nancy’s affair is still going on... Dale deserves so much better. Joseph does as well,” one fan wrote on the King of the Hill subreddit, denouncing the couple as “the worst characters on this show, and honestly all-time.”
To another, the affair played a role in their decision to give up on the revival just seven minutes into the first episode. “They went back to the Nancy and John Redcorn affair stuff even though that had been dealt with in the original run,” they explained.
Of course, those of us who got it had no problem playing along — as well as having a little fun with it, too.
