A Call for Jon Stewart to Run for President Has Set Off Trump
Charlamagne tha God isn’t the first person to suggest Daily Show host Jon Stewart should run for president. There’s a change.org petition out there imploring him to run in 2028, one of several out there dating back to at least 2016. But the radio personality might be the first to float that trial balloon on Fox News, as he did Saturday during an interview with the president’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump.
The Breakfast Club co-host got off some doozies during the interview, telling Lara Trump that “I think traditional conservatives are going to take the Republican Party back. I think there’s a political coup going on right now in the Republican Party that people aren’t paying attention to. I think this Epstein thing is going to be a way for traditional conservatives to take their party back, I really do.”
Then Charlamagne suggested a radical candidate for the next election cycle. “I’d love to see Jon Stewart run in 2028,” he said, calling him “a change agent coming from the outside that’s really going to shake things up, somebody that I feel can speak to all people.”

Stewart has already proved he can get legislation passed, Charlamagne argued, referring to the comic’s heroic efforts on behalf of 9/11 first responders. “We know where his heart is. He’d be somebody I'd like to see get in the race and disrupt things in 2028.”
A Republican coup? A comedy candidate? All being discussed with a Trump family member on Fox News? The sitting president predictably lost it on Truth Social, a tirade that Charlamagne tha God shared on his own Instagram account.
Even by Trump’s standards, the tantrum was a pretty good one. First he went off on Charlamagne, calling him “a Low IQ individual” and a “racist sleazebag” in his Inimitable, random Capitalization style. “Why is he allowed to use the word ‘GOD’ when describing himself?” Trump asked parenthetically. “Can anyone imagine the uproar there would be if I used that nickname?” (By asking the question, Trump acknowledges that he has at least considered the consequences of using the title himself.)
Then the president played another round of “How can I distract you from the Epstein allegations?” with a laundry list of his recent accomplishments, including “just ending 5 wars.” There are a few punches thrown at STUPID and CORRUPT Joe Biden. And despite firing his labor statistics chief for reporting disturbing numbers about the nation’s unemployment situation, Trump also bragged about creating “the greatest economy.” In fact, the United States is now “the ‘HOTTEST’ Country anywhere in the World. MAGA!”
Curiously absent from the tirade were any shots fired at Stewart himself, the comedian whose bid for song of the summer is a Spotify track devoted to Trump called “Go Fuck Yourself.”
Maybe Trump is saving those insults for his retaliatory diss track.
