The movie and TV production set can be a high pressure place. All of this can be too much for the actor to bear at times. They'll turn down that dream career for a variety of reasons.

When you're dismissed from a job because you fought with your supervisor or use drugs, it usually affects anybody outside of your family as well as the workplace. However, on a popular television program, a performer quitting or being fired implies his role must relocate or, more often, be spectacularly killed off. Alternatively, as in the example above, the makers may get inventive. However, once the actor exited the scene, a crucial figure remained.

At its most basic level, a TV production set is basically a space to work. There's a lot of drama, a lot of politicking, and perhaps not enough ventilation in the toilet. There are also some strange reasons why people are permitted to be fired, and when they are, a lot of damage control on the persona they were portraying is required.
