Rudy Watch: 'Borat 2' Star Giuliani Faces Consequences of His Actions, Trump's Wrath

As our nation copes with the aftermath of an attempted coup d'etat at the U.S. Capitol, President Trump faces his second impeachment, and many Americans contemplate whether a peaceful transfer of power is possible just days ahead of President-Elect Joe Biden's inauguration. There is a once-prominent character that has seemingly faded into the background amid this chaos -- Rudy Giuliani.

Just like the rest of America, the past week and change have been particularly tumultuous to good ol' RuGiu, for reasons he frankly brought upon himself. In the moments leading up to the deadly siege on our nation's Capitol, both Giuliani and President Trump addressed a crowd of supporters at Ellipse in President's Park, touting baseless allegations of voter fraud in the 2020 election and making several inciting remarks to a crowd of Trump supporters. 

" .. Walk down to the Capitol," the President instructed his followers. "You have to show strength, and you have to be strong." Moments earlier, the president's famously flatulent attorney mirrored these sentiments, seemingly taking them a step further than his presidential counterpart.

"If we are wrong, we will be made fools of, but if we're right, a lot of them will go to jail," The Borat 2 star said to a crowd of soon-to-be-rioters at January 6th's Save America rally. "So let's have trial by combat." Welp. That aged like a glass of milk on a hot day. 

Yet instead of acknowledging the plausibility of his words potentially provoking acts of violence later that day, Giuliani denied any correlation between his language and the Capitol attack, alleging he was merely referencing HBO's hit series, Game of Thrones.

"I was referencing the kind of trial that took place for Tyrion in that very famous documentary about fictitious medieval England," Giuliani told The Hill 's White House Reporter, Brett Samuels of his alleged nod to everyone's favorite work of hard-hitting nonfiction television. "When Tyrion, who is a very small man, is accused of murder. He didn't commit murder, he can't defend himself, and he hires a champion to defend him." Because nothing says "champion" like spewing hot air from your mouth and allegedly from your nether regions in court?

However, it seems Giuliani is grappling with more than just the blowback from his controversial speech, now allegedly facing a spot on soon-to-be-ex President Donald Trump's shit list. Earlier this week, President Trump, reportedly irritated with being impeached yet again, has advised people to stop paying Rudy Giuliani's legal fees, both The Washington Post and CNN reported on Thursday. While it's unclear whether or not this instruction was meant seriously, the President has allegedly been blaming his attorney and others in his circle for his current predicament, reportedly evading taking responsibility for recent events. 

Despite CNN's report, Jason Miller, Trump's senior campaign advisor issued a tweet earlier today alleging that all is in fact well between the former NYC rich kids. "Just spoke with President Trump, and he told me that @RudyGiuliani is a great guy and a Patriot who devoted his services to the country!" he wrote.  "We all love America's Mayor!"

Move over, "Driver's License" saga and the Armie Hammer cannibalism conspiracy -- it seems the juiciest drama just might be happening from within the confines of the White House. 

And it's not just POTUS's alleged stiffing -- several institutions have also begun to turn their backs on Giuliani. Once a Fox News staple, the attorney, along with fellow Trump-affiliated lawyer, Sidney Powell, have been conspicuously absent from the station's airwaves. In light of his comments, The New York State bar association is reportedly looking into giving Giuliani the boot, as he may have breached a bylaw which states that it permits "no person who advocates the overthrow of the government of the United States," CBS New York reported. Even Vermont's Middlebury College has dumped Giuliani, revoking the honorary degree they presented to him back in 2005. 

So, Rudy, please, from the bottom of our hearts, keep facing the consequences of your actions. If you listen oh so closely, you can hear a chorus of the world's smallest violins playing a sad song just for you.
