Celebrities are often lauded for their looks, their talent, and their lifestyles. However, there is another side to celebrity life that is often hidden from the public eye. For some celebrities, the pressure of living in the spotlight can be too much to handle. As a result, they may start to act erratically or display signs of mental illness. In extreme cases, this can lead to some very strange behavior.
In 2014, for example, actor Shia LaBeouf made headlines after he was arrested for disorderly conduct and trespassing. LaBeouf later claimed that he was "addicted to drugs" and had been "trying to self-medicate" with alcohol. In 2017, actress Amanda Bynes also made headlines after she was hospitalized for a mental health evaluation. Bynes had been exhibiting bizarre behavior for months, including tweeting strange messages and setting fire to a clothing store. While some celebrities are able to get the help they need, others spiral out of control and end up in the tabloids for all the wrong reasons. It's clear that fame can take a toll on even the most stable of celebrities.
Celebrities live bigger, stranger lives than many of us-- which means that their disputes and demands are often bigger and a stranger too. At least that's what we tell ourselves when we hear about things like these.
