Here’s something that’s always bothered us: Why can’t every movie be like that old show Pop-Up Video and display fun tidbits about the movie while it’s playing? We wouldn’t care if it distracted us from the plot because, to us, the facts are more interesting than any plot. 

Well, if the movies themselves aren’t going to use these, then we guess we’ll just have to gather them up. Their loss!

Finding Nemo

Frozen helped solve a 62-year-old mystery. In 1959, nine hikers never came back from a trip to Russia's Ural mountains .. this became known as the Dyatlov Pass incident. So scientists used avalanche simulation models developed for Frozen to simulate what happened at Dyatlov Pass. All that activity kicks up a lot of soil, which might make the moon's surface less reflective and therefore less bright - and that could mess with a lot of biological systems on Earth. The engine room scenes in 2009's Star Trek were shot in a brewery. J.J. Abrams wanted a big, open space that was totally unlike the soundstage sets seen in every Trek before that, so they used the Anheuser-Busch brewery in Van Nuys, California - which has 1.7 million square feet of floor area. Men in Black

Men in Black was totally altered at the last minute. Two weeks before the final cut was supposed to be done, director Barry Sonnenfeld changed the entire plot, in his words, by putting in new subtitles and new text on the board in MIB HQ. NOW YOU KNOW CRACKED.COM

They shot some of the Vietnam scenes in Beckton Gas Works - where the actors were crawling in asbestos and ate food that a layer of dust would always quickly settle on. Barry Sonnenfeld

Barry Sonnenfeld made the decision to set Men in Black in New York City. In the original idea, the movie took place in Lawrence, Kansas; Las Vegas; and Washington D.C. Pulp Fiction
