Richard Kind Reveals That He Once Took A Bathroom Nap in the Middle of A Date

On tonight’s episode of Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney, Richard Kind revealed the secret of his sexual prowess: power naps.
With his Netflix talk show, John Mulaney wants to reimagine the late-night format through the lens of sheer insanity, an ambition he could only achieve with the help of the single most chaotic side-kick in show business. Kind, 68, has committed to the bit of Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney so hard that he has often stolen the entire show, such as when he broke Pete Davidson by screaming “He’s in the Order of the Gash!,” or when he threw on his finest ripped T-shirt to perform a perfect Bill Belichick parody.

Then, during tonight's episode of Everybody's Live, the topic of sleep trouble perfectly segued into what Mulaney is calling “my favorite Richard Kind story of all time” as the veteran stage and screen actor revealed that he has the power to fall asleep in any setting and any position — if you know what I mean.
“Rich, you’re able to fall asleep in the middle of a Broadway show that you and I did this winter,” Mulaney ribbed his sidekick of their time working on the Simon Rich play All In, then suggesting that Kind could offer an alternative to Ambien for the insomniacs featured on tonight’s Everybody's Live. “Is there any way you can bottle that for the American public?”
Kind replied plainly, “I can nap anywhere, it’s just something I can do. I can nap standing up on a bus.”
Then, the bombshell: “I will tell you something that I’ve told many times, I’m telling you now on national TV, it makes me laugh,” Kind introduced of his best-ever anecdote. “I was on a date, and the lights were very low, and I’m nodding. I’m calling it the economics class nod, where you’re trying to stay awake, and I couldn’t. So, I went to the men’s room and sat on the toilet for five or ten minutes, and I fell asleep.”
“And I was charming when I came back,” Kind raved about his well-rested demeanor on the date. “I was magnificent!”
Kind went on to explain to the aghast panel of Mulaney, Sarah Silverman and Patton Oswalt that, during his date nap, the toilet cover was down, his pants were on and his date had no idea he was sleeping. And, while Kind didn’t go into detail about his “magnificent” performance post-nap, we can reasonably assume that he needed the sleep — because he’d be getting something else that night.
