Fox News Keeps Bleeping the Dan Aykroyd ‘SNL’ 'Ignorant Slut’ Joke It Says Cancel Culture Wouldn’t Allow Today

Brian Kilmeade has a bone to pick with cancel culture. His favorite Saturday Night Live anchor of all time, he says, is Dan Aykroyd. But the woke censors of today would never allow the hilarity of the past, such as a Point/Counterpoint segment on Weekend Update when Aykroyd offers this rebuttal to Jane Curtin: “Jane, you ignorant slut.”

As you can see above, the official Saturday Night Live YouTube channel (and by extension, NBC) still has the clip up and running, all slurs intact. But when Fox News ran the old SNL clip on One Nation With Brian Kilmeade yesterday, it bleeped all references to the potentially offensive word.

“That was Jim Downey who wrote that ‘Jane, you ignorant (bleep),” says Aykroyd, making the point that teamwork was responsible for the laughs.

“Could you say, ‘Jane, you ignorant (bleep) today?” asked Kilmeade as his Fox News bosses snip out the naughty bits. “Do you think that would be a problem with censors or cancel culture?”

“That’s a good question. I think you could probably do it today,” Aykroyd responded after some thought. “(Bleep). Hey listen, I’ve been a (bleep).”

“Good point!” laughed Kilmeade. “We don’t have proof of that, but I’m going to go with your word.”

But there is proof. NBC and Saturday Night Live are still sharing the uncensored clip on their official sites so good news for comedy fans like Kilmeade — edgy, uncomfortable, and politically incorrect humor is still allowed, at least on some online channels.

Fox News, on the other hand, must be a proponent of cancel culture since it believes its viewers would be offended by such language and removes the slurs before anyone can decide for themselves. One funny point for Fox News — bleeping out “slut” allows viewers to imagine all kinds of words that might be more offensive than the original.

Aykroyd expresses his “pure joy and gratitude” when watching those old clips, thanking his “great collaborators. We didn’t do it alone. It was always a team effort.”

Kilmeade applauded Aykroyd’s tenure at SNL and Weekend Update, a tradition, according to an onscreen graphic, that’s “A Flashback To When Comedy Was Funny.” Luckily for fans who like their comedy free from cancel culture, Saturday Night Live still airs on NBC and not Fox News.
