20 Movie Fight Scenes That Look Fake As Hell

As dudes who buy tank tops in the children’s department are fond of pointing out, movie fight scenes are never realistic. That’s because real-life fighting is awkward, and no one wants to watch grown men just kind of try to slap each other to the ground. No, they want to see skilled martial artists take turns roundhouse kicking each other into the air until the good guy arbitrarily wins, preferably with a face-melting soundtrack and a foley team committed to squelching whatever weird shit they need to for the best sound effects.

Sometimes, however, filmmakers take the glamour a little too far. For example, “I love The Godfather, don't get me wrong,” Redditor Bouldlin recently noted, “but the scene where Sonny beats Carlo just looks too choreographed, with James Caan hitting the air many times. Gianni Russo taking the beating looks too fake to be believed, too.”

Bouldlin went on to ask r/Movies for more “movie fight scenes too fake to be believed,” and Reddit came back with visible wires, exaggerated reactions and at least one pair of pork nunchucks.
