‘South Park’ Fans Are Freaking Out That There’s No Teaser for This Week’s Episode Yet

Okay, this is getting weird

Despite the delays and scheduling confusion this season, we could still count on South Park to promote itself on social media. Every episode of Season 27 so far has been preceded by a teaser posted to YouTube, X/Twitter and Instagram — until now, that is.

For example, last week, just 24 hours before Episode Four premiered, South Park dropped a video revealing that the show would tackle Trump’s tariffs by way of the Labubu fad. Although they kept the twist that Satan is pregnant with Trump’s “butt baby” close to the vest.

But this week, the show’s socials have been oddly silent ahead of tonight’s scheduled episode. The most recent post on X/Twitter is from nearly two weeks ago, and it’s just a shot of Jesus holding a Labubu doll.

As of writing, the title of the episode hasn’t even been announced. Which, again, is weird. On Comedy Central’s website, the episode is simply designated “South Park 2705.” “Join Stan, Kyle, Eric, and Kenny down in South Park for a dose of crude language and dark, surreal humor!” the default description reads.

It’s hard not to interpret this hiccup as a reaction to the Charlie Kirk assassination, which prompted a number of right-wingers to point the blame at South Park’s recent parody (despite the fact that Kirk himself was a vocal fan). And it also led Comedy Central to pull the episode “Got a Nut” from the channel’s broadcast rotation (although it’s still available on Paramount+).

It’s certainly possible that Trey Parker and Matt Stone have an episode ready to go but are attempting to stifle premature internet outrage by declining to release a teaser. Then again, maybe they’ve had to pull another all-nighter

Whatever the reason is, South Park fans are clearly anxious. With no teaser available, some viewers are questioning whether or not there will even be a new episode come Wednesday night.

More than one fan joked that Parker and Stone may buck expectations and give us another Terrance and Phillip-centric episode, as they did back in Season Two with the cliffhanger-disrupting “Terrance and Phillip in Not Without My Anus.”

Hopefully the lack of promos doesn’t mean that Paramount is planning on yanking the episode and replacing it with a Yellowstone rerun.
