Matt Rife Owns the Allegedly Possessed Annabelle Doll, and Everyone Feels Bad for the Doll

He also owns the home of Ed and Lorraine Warren

Matt Rife hasn’t done enough terrorizing of the earthly plane, so he bought up the largest collection of paranormal items in the world. The comedian announced on TikTok that he and his friend Elton Castee purchased the home of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, which includes numerous haunted objects. The most famous of the objects is the Annabelle doll, which is rumored to be possessed.

“This might be the most important and prominent piece of paranormal history in the world,” Rife said on TikTok. “Ed and Lorraine Warren are who took demonology and ghost hunting and paranormal investing and made it mainstream. I know a lot of you guys don’t know what any of this means whatsoever, but if you follow ghost stuff, this is about as big as it gets.”

He’s not wrong — the collection is as “big as it gets.” The doll has had its own horror movie, and the Warrens inspired the Conjuring film franchise. Annabelle has risen to its own sort of peculiar fame with horror fans, conspiracy theorists and anyone obsessed with the supernatural. Because of this, Annabelle has been taken on tours across the country, and there’s a laundry list of suspicious circumstances related to the object. The last man who was caretaker of her, Dan Rivera, died while on tour with the doll.

Rife and Castee, a YouTuber, won’t be permanent owners of the house and collection. Instead, they’re the legal guardians of the collection and the home for the next five years. In that time, the duo wants to reopen the house as a museum (it was closed in 2019) and allow people to do day visits, overnight visits and even full weekend stays.

“If you know me, you know I’m obsessed with the paranormal and all things haunted,” Rife wrote on Instagram. “You also may know The Conjuring films are my favorite scary movies of all time. So I’m incredibly honored to have taken over one of the most prominent properties in paranormal history.”

Do you know what sounds like a true nightmare? Staying in a house filled with 750 haunted objects, managed by the guy whose most viral TikTok clips are MILF jokes. What do you think is scarier: Standing in a dark room with a demon-possessed clown doll or standing in a dark room with a comedian who won’t stop saying he wants to fuck your mother? I’m personally taking my chances with the doll.

Still, on TikTok, Rife received plenty of words of caution about his new “hobby,” as he called it.

“Oh you in danger,” wrote Snooki. Another commenter added, “Good knowing you, Matt. Go from comedy to tragedy.”

“The Conjuring 12: Crowd Work,” someone else joked.

That might be the scariest concept of all: A horror movie dedicated to Matt Rife working the crowd for a full 90 minutes. Don’t worry about the haunted house — none of your mothers will be safe.
